Privacy Policy

  • housing requirements

  • location

  • financial information

  • date of birth and gender

  • ethnicity

  • interactions with us

We may collect your information when you apply for housing, correspond with us, complete forms, use our services, or interact with our social media. We may also collect information from other organizations such as the Ministry of Social Development and the NZ Police where you have authorized them to provide it.

How We Use and Share Your Information

We collect and use your personal information to:

  • create our Housing Waitlist and help find a suitable property for you.

  • respond to your correspondence, feedback, and inquiries.

  • process applications and payments.

  • comply with relevant laws and regulations.

  • carry out administrative and business purposes.

For the purpose of building a 'profile of unmet housing need' for Waiheke Island, we may share anonymised data with other Waiheke organisations.

We may also disclose your personal information to:

  • any person engaged by us to provide products or services on our behalf.

  • our employees and Board members, in order to assist with the functions and services we provide.

  • a third party if we are required to do so under any laws or regulations, or in the course of legal proceedings. This includes circumstances related to the Family Violence Act 2018 and the Oranga Tamariki Act 1989.

Your Rights and Privacy Breaches

You have the right to ask for a copy of any personal information we hold about you, and to ask for it to be corrected if you think it is wrong. If you’d like to ask for a copy of your information, or to have it corrected, please contact us at info@wcht.org.nz.

In the event of a privacy breach, the breach will be reported to our Chief Executive and assessed to determine if it is notifiable to the Privacy Commissioner and the affected individuals.
